School Closure

Unfortunately, RCT have now confirmed we are unable to open the school to children until Thursday. Over the course of the weekend, some issues were discovered that require us to disconnect from the water supply for a couple of days. Due to this additional and urgent work, contractors are not in a position to make the site safe for children until Thursday. At this point, the hall will still be out of use but it will be secured off with safe routes created around the school. This was obviously the position we expected to be in tomorrow.

I can't apologise enough for the inconvenience this has caused, we are all disappointed not to be starting the term the way we had planned for. Most staff have children of their own and completely understand how difficult and disruptive closure at such short notice can be. The lack of notice is beyond anyone's control - if there was anyway we could open and provide a safe environment for your children, we would. In this instance, the decision was taken out of our hands, although it is clear there was no other option, legally or morally. I have attached some photos of the school this morning.

In an attempt to lessen the impact, we have cancelled plans for two INSET days later in the term and will use the closure days for training instead.

Although surely frustrated, I hope you can understand the reasons and circumstances behind this sudden closure. We look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Thursday.
