St David's Day Eisteddfod 2016

Tuesday's St David's Day celebrations culminated in a wonderful Eisteddfod in the afternoon. Staff busily judged all the amazing art and craftwork that was completed during the morning and awarded prizes for first to fourth for each year group. In addition, staff announced the winners of the poetry competition for each class as well as the 'Mini Bard' (for our up and coming writers in Foundation Phase) and the overall school Bard. The title of 'Mini Bard' was this year awarded to a most desrving Caitlin Murphy while this year's school Bard was announced as Elizabeth Brennan from Dosbarth Llew. Elizabeth was presented with the chair and gave snippets of her wonderful poem which we will post here, in full, soon. The overall house winner for this year was revealed to be Melyn, but a huge well done to all of the children for their efforts - we were so proud of all of you!

Throughout the ceremony and between prize giving, children from each class took part in poetry recitals, folk dancing (including a very special Tom Jones tribute from the staff!), Welsh themed songs and even a rp. In addition, the whole school performed a variety of Welsh songs including of course, the National Anthem. Once again, The singing would not have been out of place during a six nations game in Cardiff! What a great way to end our St David's Day celebrations.
