Last term, we began to
trial a pre-school running session between 8.30 and 9.00am prior to the start
of the school day. This was based on research in Scotland that has suggested a
run during the day vastly improves children’s concentration, focus and
behaviour. Initial results from our own trial were promising, particularly
during the morning sessions where we found less disruptive behaviour and calmer classrooms.
As a result, this
pre-school running club will be re-launched from next Monday and run on a daily
basis. Initially Mr Worth will run the club until someone is trained to take over. Anyone
from Year 3 to year 6 is welcome to join as long as they are registered. There
is no pressure to take part every day but we would ask that a kit is kept in
school for when they do run. If not available to take the runners on any
given day, Mr Worth will text to let parents know the evening before. Children from
breakfast club can also take part as long as they are registered in both clubs so a safe hand over can be ensured.
If you’d like your child
to take part (even if it is not every session), please fill in the registration
slip that will be coming home with children today and return at your earliest convenience.
