This year our ‘Healthy Week’ will be held week commencing 29th
June. As usual, we will be taking part in sponsored challenges to raise funds
to put towards new resources for our school. Last year, our 'Castle to Bay'
hike and ‘Rainbow Run’ raised over £1500 and helped fund replacement iPads and
Laptops. This year we have some brand new challenges to look forward to and
these will take place on Wednesday 1st July.
Foundation Phase children (Teigr, Eliffant, Cangarw and Coala) will take
part in a ‘Taff Trail Ramble’
where different routes will be planned out for
level of challenge and age of the child.
Meanwhile, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 (Twcan, Rhino Gwyn and Llew) will be repeating
our challenge from 3 years ago – climbing Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in South
Wales. This has been our most popular challenge to date and one that we have
had many requests from children to repeat. As we have younger children taking
part this year, we will be taking a slow and steady route and will be
accompanied by qualified instructors from the nearby Storey Arms Outdoor
Pursuits Centre.
Further details of each of these activities including any
equipment/clothing needed will be sent out shortly. If for any reason you do
not wish your child to take part in their class activity, please let your
child’s teacher know as soon as possible. We will also be looking for parent
volunteers to walk with us on the day (and indeed collect their own sponsors if
they wish). If you fancy getting involved and making it a family event, let
Mrs. James or myself know.
As usual, children will be reminded of safe sponsor collection in an
assembly. All forms and money should be returned to school by the morning of
the 1st July.
