A big thank you to you all for donating so generously to our Emily Memorial fund through the colourful non uniform day and Dosbarth Llew cake sale. Both were a great success (and a fitting way to remember Emily) and we raised over £300. This money will go towards a number of projects that Emily's classmates have come up with to ensure her memory lives on throughout the school and in a positive way.
Firstly, an area within the school garden has been selected to be redeveloped with a mosaic being created and a bright colourful flower garden planted. Year 6 each year will be given the honour of replanting and maintaining this area. The section of garden as it currently looks...
The 'We Love Ffynnon Taf Fundraising Association' have already purchased a bench to be placed in this area of the garden and Emily's classmates have written an inscription on the brass plaque that will be attached..
The children have also decided to create the 'Emily Walby Trophy'. This will be awarded in the Year 6 Leavers' Assembly each year to a pupil that has excelled in the arts (be it music, dance, drama or art) as these were the things that Emily loved so much.
Finally, just a reminder that Mrs Tucker, Mrs Drysdale and Mr Worth will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon in Emily's memory on Sunday and raising money for the family's chosen charity - Noah's Ark Hospital. You can still sponsor the team by visiting the Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/ffynnontafpri Thanks for your support once again!
