Walk to School Day!

As part of our Eco Plan for this year, the Eco-committee have arranged a 'Walk to School Day' next Tuesday (29th January). This is a trial 'walking bus' to determine how popular such a scheme would be in our school. It is also a fun way of encouraging children to walk to school rather than rely on transport.

Two walking buses will run. The first, led by Mr Worth and a group of volunteer staff and parents will begin at The Big Wheel in Nantgarw at 8.35am. It will follow the cycle path to Taff's Well rugby club before crossing the railbridge and on to school. As it is the first trial, there will be no designated stops. Instead, parents are encouraged to bring their children to join the bus as it passes near them.

The second route, led by Mr Brown with staff and parents, will begin at Taff's Well Train Station at 8.35am. (Children from Ty Rhiw are encouraged to join here). It will proceed over the railway bridge before crossing the main road and passing through the village toward school. Again, parents are encouraged to join the bus as it passes through the village.

Anybody that travels to school from out of the immediate area (and by car) is also encouraged to join the walking bus. This can be done by dropping your children at Taff's Well train station at 8.35am. At the end of the day, the buses will travel the reverse routes with the same group of volunteers and will leave school at 3.20pm. Should the weather be severe, we will postpone the bus and inform you in plenty of time.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mr Worth or Mrs Bailey in school.

We look forward to your support
