On the 12th of July at Hawthorn High school astoturf the Ffynnon Taf cricket team competed strongly against other locals schools in the annual Kwik Cricket tournament. After a strong start beating Hawthorn Primary and then beating Tonyrefail Primary the team faced tougher opposition from bigger schools Gwauncelyn and Llanilltud Faerdref. After a heart-breaking loss to Gwauncelyn by the last catch of the game the children battled on after lunch in their two final matches. At end of play they had won 2 and lost 3 matches. Excellent skills throughout the team were evident to see. Strong batting, bowling and fielding helped keep Ffynnon Taf's team competing to the end! Well done to the captain Louise L and to all the boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 6 who represented the school so skilfully.
