Give a bug a home!

Our project for this term is to create a Minibeast Mansion in our school garden. This will enable children to explore and learn about the world of minibeasts and to help these creatures thrive. By looking at minibeasts the children will begin to understand the role of the creatures and the relationships they have with the life cycles of plants and other animals.

To create our minibeast mansion we will need to collect many materials that encourage and entice all types of minibeasts to make a home in the mansion. If you have any of the following materials around the house that you would care to donate, please bring to school as soon as possible:

stones
bricks, old roof tiles
clay drainage tubes
fir cones, dry leaves and bits of bark
bundles of garden canes
small clay plant pots
straw, hay, dead woods and dry sticks

If you have any knowledge or experience about our project that you would like to share with the children, please come to see me.
