Cardiff Castle to Cardiff Bay Sponsored Walk

Our Junior children today completed a fantastic challenge - walking over 7 miles from Cardiff Castle to Cardiff Bay along the river Taff. They have helped raise over £1000 so far (along with the Foundation Phase 'Rainbow Run' challenge) with more yet to come in! What a fantastic achievement! Check out the pictures and accounts from our Year 3 and 4 'Writers' Workshop' below:

Today We Walked to Cardiff Bay from Cardiff Castle. We walked seven and a half miles in total.  Most of us were tired by the end. We had a snack at 11 O’ Clock by the river and rested for 4 or 5 minutes .  We carried on for two hours and then had lunch on the barrage. Mr Worth, Miss Morris, Mr Brown , Ms Tucker, Mrs Burge ,  Mrs Marshall, Mr Shaddick, Mrs Phillips and all the  juniors came on the exhausting walk.  Elizabeth accidentally bumped into her mum so she stopped and had a chat. My favourite part was waking  near the water -  the water was really high!

In Ffynnon Taf today we have walked seven and a half miles from Sophia Gardens near Cardiff Castle along the River Taff to Cardiff Bay.  All of a sudden, Elizabeth Brennan bumped into her mum who was having a meeting! It was funny. They had a chat and then we carried on with the walk.

At 11 o’clock  we had snack in a park by the river. Later,  we had lunch on the banks of the barrage. We got back on our feet and carried on with the walk. Eventually, we arrived at the Millennium Centre where the bus came to pick us up.

Today we have walked a massive seven and a half miles!! Most of us are tired but we survived! Some of us thought it was hard but when you get about half way it gets easier. At 11am most of us sat down for a break. Mr Brown and Miss Morris brought sticks and if we were not moving fast enough we’d be tapped with the stick!!! Ellie got tapped by Mr Brown but I didn’t.
On the way we had a snack for about 5 or 6 minutes then we carried on for about 1 hour and 45 minutes after dinner about 12.50 we carried on till the bus. The bus was about 1 hour away from where we had lunch on the barrage.
When we were by the Norweigan Church we all saw the ice cream truck but we weren’t allowed as we had to rush for the bus. Travis brought swim trunks as he thought we could go swimming but he was the only one. We also had lot of staff with us: Mr Worth, Mr Brown, Miss Morris, Mrs Tucker, Mrs Wallace, Mrs Marshall, Mrs Burge, Mr Shaddick and Mrs Philips. Amazingly, Elizabeth bumped into her mum Mrs Brennan in Penarth Marina!. Finally, we got to the bus and got on then we arrived home at school shortly after.

In Ffynnon Taf today the juniors went on a seven mile walk. We walked from Sophia gardens to Cardiff Bay along the River Taff. It was a very long walk - it was supposed to be six miles long but it ended up being seven and a half!

We saw the beautiful barrage and loads of bobbing boats. By the bridge we saw people kayaking under the bridge. We had snack at 11:00 and we ended up having lunch at 12:50. My legs were really tired from that seven mile walk.

Believe it or not, today all of the junior children from Ffynnon Taf have taken part in a seven and a half mile walk. We started at Sophia Gardens with our destination being Cardiff Bay. It was a long walk, I can tell you that everyone’s feet were badly hurting or boiling hot after the stroll. We ended up eating at 12:50pm. It was such a hard amble that I can’t remember which was my favourite part!
