We celebrated Harvest today and spent time reflecting on all the things we need to be thankful for, not least the water that helps 'grow' our food. We used 'Water' as the theme for our Harvest assembly and each class contributed to a great afternoon of songs, poetry and storytelling. Dosbarth Teigr and Dosbarth Eliffant sang a song about rain while Dosbarth Cangarw and Dosbarth Coala presented a dramatic re-telling of an Australian folk tale. Dosbarth Twcan put music to one of their class poems while Dosbarth Rhino Gwyn sang, danced and performed a round on the theme of the water cycle. Finally, Dosbarth Llew recited a variety of poems about humans' relationship with water.
To round things off, we were delighted to invite back Phil and Kath Rickards from PONT who explained to the children why water collection was such an issue for the children and teachers in our partner school - Buchunya Primary in Mbale, Uganda. They also showed us how the kind donations the children brought in would be spent in helping the school collect rain water to use to grow the school garden. It was a thought provoking talk and thanks once again to Kath and Phil for giving up their time and helping us maintain links with Buchunya.
We also shared a wonderful Harvest Loaf (courtesy of Mrs Coles' generous baker husband!) which disappeared so quickly we didn't get a photo of it! However, here are some other pictures from our afternoon..
