Cricket success!

Last Monday 10th June the Ffynnon Taf cricket team competed in the local Kwik Cricket tournament in the beautiful surroundings of Pontypridd Cricket Club. Kwik cricket is an inclusive game of 8 overs per team - everyone gets to bowl and each pair of batters stays in for two overs each. Teams start with 200 runs but then lose 5 runs each time they are out - whether they're bowled, caught or run out! 12 teams turned up and we were put into four groups of three.

First up we played against Gwauncelyn Primary. Following fantastic batting and some impressive fielding and catching in the outfield Ffynnon Taf won by 240 runs to 238!! This was no mean feat as our opponents were from a far bigger school than ours. In the second match we played against Pont Sion Norton Primary, a Welsh medium school from Pontypridd. In another close game Ffynnon Taf won by 224 runs to 218. Brilliant! We had made the last four and were in the semi finals!!! Not bad for a team made up of year 3,4,5 and 6 children!! Unfortunately, we lost the semi final match to a very talented Llantrisant Primary team - but nevertheless all our boys shold be very proud of their achievements on the day. Da iawn boys!!
