Green Flag Three Achieved!

We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded out third green flag from Eco-schools Wales in recognition of the work we do on reducing our carbon footprint and improving our environment.

The success follows a recent visit by Matthew Bunt of Eco Schools Wales, who spent a morning with the pupils of the eco-committee. They showed him around the school, visiting classes and discussing the progress made by the school since receiving our second green flag in 2010.

Highlights of his report include:
  • An excellent tour led by an enthusiastic and knowledgable committee
  • Strong action planning in place including a simple version for the whole school community on the notice board.
  • Fantastic, dynamic Eco-schools notice board in place, full of relevant Eco-info including success stories.
  • Good elements of data analysis developed and evidence is in place that this is steering further action planning (eg. Walking bus).
He also gave the committee advice and pointers on achieving the final 'Platinum' Green flag in two years time.

A huge well done to all of the school community for all their 'green' efforts but a special thanks must go to the children of our eco-committee and Mrs Bailey (Eco-coordinator) for all the action-planning and preparation that goes into achieving such an award! Da iawn!!
