We need a new motto!

Our school has changed a lot in recent years and as a result the staff have got together to review and rewrite our vision statement and aims. I have included these below and would be happy to recieve any feedback you may have.

Our next task is to produce a school mission statement or 'motto' - something short, concise and memorable that really reflects the school we are today and the school we aim to be. For this we are launching a competition for children (and their parents) to write suggestions for this. The winning suggestion (or combination of suggestions) will become the actual school motto and appear on all letters, publications and online as well as being learnt by all the members of our school community.

Any suggestions should be handed in to Mr Worth before the June half term holiday and a winner will be announced before we break up for the summer holiday. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the future development of our school. I have attached the new vision statement and aims below as well as some examples of mission statements from other schools.

Vision Statement:

Ffynnon Taf Primary School: A school at the heart of its community where children are provided with experiences and skills that lay the foundations for life; unlocking each child’s learning potential and allowing them to develop into confident, responsible lifelong learners.

Aims:
ü To provide a safe, secure, happy and stimulating environment in which to learn
ü To nurture lively, enquiring minds, developing the ability to learn independently and initiating a lifetime of learning.
ü To develop confidence and self esteem in all members of the school community
ü To ensure that every child learns to read, write and speak to the best of their ability.
ü To develop an exciting, creative, child-centred curriculum that recognises different learning styles and focuses on skills development.
ü To provide challenging learning experiences that allow all children to develop to their full potential
ü To give children the opportunity to acquire and apply basic skills in balanced measure.
ü To teach children to value themselves and those around them, accepting differences and promoting equality.
ü To encourage all members of the school community to become informed and active partners in the education of our children.
